Susanna, born in Richmond, Missouri and reared in California's Gold Country, came to Park City to visit friends and stayed to marry Mr. Emery, the local Postmaster and later, Speaker of the House in Utah's 31st (and last) Territorial Legislature. Their happiness endured but ended 10 years later when he died due to his alcoholic excesses on a return trip from Hawaii.
It only took Susie a year to find her Russian Prince, thus becoming "Princess Engalicheff." She was widowed again just two years later when he died from illness. In 1938 Susie returned to Utah for the first time in years. In 1942, at age 83 she died as her fortune dwindled. Her relatives paid for her to lay rest next to her first husband, Mr. Emery.
